Here's the blurb....hope to see you at the opening for a beer! This show is a complete group of works which I have had floating around inmy head for a while now. The show is an extension of other work I have donein the past. Mostly I just enjoy making them.I studied painting at Cashmere High School under Ross Gray and MargaretHudson-Ware. Later
I studied printmaking at Hagley Community College.I then figured Fine Arts and university were not for me and went off andstudied Organic Horticulture. I remained interested in making things andhave always had a sewing machine.
I have always worked steadily as an artist I have participated in variousgroup shows and have had five solo shows. In 2004 I was highly commended in the Anthony Harper Award for Contemporaryart at COCA gallery in Christchurch.
I use a household sewing machine to draw the images onto the canvas.I use the qualities of the thread to create areas of sharp line juxtaposedwith chaotic loose hanging thread, which allows the images to be veryformal, and also tumultuous.
I like playing with the idea of traditional Å’women¹s work¹ which has becomeunhinged in these works.
